Elona Vaisnys is League of Women Voters of Hamden-North Haven membership co-chair, League of Women Voters of Connecticut membership director, and a League of Women Voters US Ruth S. Shur Fellow/National Coach.

She was editor for 22 years for the departments of engineering at Yale University, served on President Carter’s Commission on Foreign Language and International Studies, and worked in the Energy Department of Governor’s Office of Policy and Management in Hartford. She had a by-lined column on civic participation in the New Haven Register, wrote 800 public service announcements and produced a monthly show on health/medicine on WELI, was a consultant to the Hospital of Saint Raphael “Better Health” program on CPTV, and visited Lithuania on behalf of the League of Women Voters US Global Democracy Program. She has a Ph.D. in French literature from Yale University.
